Thor: The Dark World

Directors: Alan Taylor, James Gunn
Cast: Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins

All you ladies out there, please don't miss this movie. CHRIS HEMSWORTH IS SOOO HOT!!! Ahem...now that we have got that out of the way, let us proceed.

Thor, the Norse God of Thunder, was brought into popular culture when Stan Lee wanted a character who is stronger than Hulk -the strongest of Lee's creations. To make matters plausible (even in comics that is) he decided to introduce a God. And Lo! The Thor that we know is born!

(Pssst, did you know? As per mythology, Thor is married to Sif, Goddess of earth. Even in the movie, I felt that Thor is better off with Sif than Jane Foster)

In this movie, the superhero does what all super heroes are expected to do. He saves not only this world, but the entire universe, romances here and there with his lady love Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), bonds with his family and fights with and also along with his brother Loki -Lord of Mischief.

Well, the plot is simple. Thor must stop the leader of Dark elves -Malekith from plunging the universe into darkness with his dreaded weapon the Aether. I don't want to dwell too much on the plot, lest I give it away. But the way the movie brings to life Asgard is really breath taking. The battle scenes are brilliantly taken and the movie is fast paced without a moment of boredom. Tom Hiddleston as Loki makes us want to love and hate him at the same time. Rene Russo's performance as Frigga, mother of Thor and Loki, is short but powerful and effective. Anthony Hopkins perfectly portrays a brave, authoritative and stodgily lovable Odin. Natalie Portman is ok ( I may be biased as I found her mildly irritating and not deserving Thor. What?? Of course I side with Sif, played by Jaimie Alexander)

In short, Thor is a typical superhero movie with just the right mix of all masala ingredients.

If you want to just relax and enjoy a movie without exerting your grey cells, Thor is a must watch. And more than the movie, Chris will keep your eyes glued to the screen for sure. Now excuse me while I drool over this shirtless scene.

You are welcome!
