Between Books

After starting this project, I am finding myself drawn to writing new posts everyday. And obviously, I just cant write new book reviews everyday right? So thought will share some other reviews also with you here...experiences that I have between books.
 
Restaurants, hotels, new products, stores...these are some of the things that I am planning to record here. Hope you will like it.

Peace, peace and peace. It prevails all over. Within and without. Serene and quite, the mind is like a still lake. A few thoughts ripple out now and then, like how a gentle breeze makes the water move beautifully and silently. With this quietude, it is very easy to see the completeness in oneself. Absolute Relative

It is kind of sadly funny or rather, funnily sad, when we come to understand that to know the absolute, relative is the key. Absolute by itself is beyond comprehension. How can one define absolute? Musings on the Mind

A quiet mind is a happy mind. But the fleeting happiness that I experience every now and then does not mean that my mind is quiet. It just means that I am experiencing a fleeting glimpse of bliss, that will soon be replaced by the hum drum of everyday existence. However, a mind that is truly quiet, is a source of infinite and abiding bliss. It is truly fascinating to observe this mind. And the biggest paradox is, when I start observing the mind, like a shy child, it slinks away and curls up into a quiet corner. And when that happens, the bliss becomes infinite. Just think, wave after wave of ceaseless thoughts is what constitutes the mind. And all these thoughts are purely based on experiences of my past or the expectations of the future. To rephrase, the mind always moves in the space that I create for it, ie -it roams about in the realms of past or in the unexplored kingdoms of the future. Not under a single leadership, not instigated by any political party, not even started by any association or activist group, not under the banner of any caste or community, not belonging to any single profession, not demanding any direct benefits for themselves. It is frustrating to look around and see how much damage we are doing consciously to our environment. Now, more than ever, we are at a tipping point where unless we start cleaning up our act, there may not be a planet to give to our future generations. To even contemplate the current scenario is very depressing. Even more depressing is when we think we can't do anything about it. We have been brought up with the thought that an individual has no power and his act alone cannot bring about any change in the society. Well, if that is the case, the society is nothing but a collection of individuals. It is not like as if the society is an animal of its own with head and hands and legs. A small update

This has been the only week in more than 4-5 months wherein I have not run even for a single day. And I feel very very bad about it. But, since mid January, I have not been able to do so many things that I am supposed to do regularly. All  my mind space has been completely taken up by work, that I haven't even cleaned my table in my room! Starting from home at 9, then continuously working till 9 pm, then continue to interact with the client ...aarrrggghhh!!! I am absolutely hating it. I know I am whining, but I need to whine this out aloud, because only then can I even try to find a balance in my mind. Work has been so hectic that even when I was down with fever this week, I popped pills and rushed to office. Most of what I have been doing for the past one month is trying to take over an asset case from one bank to my bank. It involves a lot of documentation and processes. The Silkworm -Robert Galbraith

I didn't know that Robert Galbraith was the pseudonym of JK Rowling until I had almost finished the book. And, since I have not read Harry Potter, Robert Galbraith is a completely new author for me. And now that I am finally sitting to write a review, I realize that I have been reading only whodunit novels for quite some time now. Need to read a different genre soon! Maybe some drama or history or some breezy chicklit? The Silkworm features Robert Galbraith's protagonist -Cormoran Strike -Afghan veteran turned private detective operating out of London. Tall, bulky, with a boxer's profile and tight curly hair, he is short of a leg knee down. Cormoran takes up the case of finding Owen Quine, a not so famous author. His wife approaches Cormoran to track the errant author, who has the annoying habit of going off by himself and returning after a few weeks. But instead of finding the Owen Quine, Cormoran finds the horribly mutated body of the author, who has been murdered...
