Between Books

After starting this project, I am finding myself drawn to writing new posts everyday. And obviously, I just cant write new book reviews everyday right? So thought will share some other reviews also with you here...experiences that I have between books.
 
Restaurants, hotels, new products, stores...these are some of the things that I am planning to record here. Hope you will like it.

Before we start on the verse, let us take a moment to pay respect to all the diet plans and food promises that we have buried alive with all those yummy food that we have tucked in shamelessly. What?? Don't tell me that you have never felt, especially after a guilty junk food binge, that it is about time you should start eating healthy. Even though I run and keep myself active, I have a weakness for salt. I just love to munch on savories. And you know what is even worse? I tend to keep eating something if I feel bored. I definitely need something in my mouth when I am engrossed in a book. And I get very tempted to eat when I see food. Manah Sodhanam - The beginning of my quest

My very first experience with spirituality was through a book called "Kurai Undrum Illai", by Mukkur Lakshmi Narasimhachar. The book comprises of eight volumes and I have only read the first one...in my 10th standard. So, I think you can understand what would have been my level of comprehension of that book. But something inside me really enjoyed what the book said. Do you remember the scrapbooks that were all craze during our school times? This book was to supposedly help you keep in touch with your classmates and we all used to fill pages after pages just before our 10th and 12th finals. The more witty you wrote in the scrapbook, the cooler you were. And why I started off with that tangent is because, in the scrap book, you used to have a field, which asks "In my next birth, I want to be-------------------------" . On Oneness - why can't we accept it -Part 3

No matter how many examples are given, no matter in how many different ways this Truth is repeated over and over again by different Masters from times immemorial, we still can't accept that we are one -WE ALL ARE ONE, encompassing the entire universe. Even after exhaustive inquiry into the nature of things, we may come to intellectually understand that we are one, but since we lack experiential understanding, we struggle to accept this. Listed below are some thoughts on this struggle. What are the practical difficulties that we face in bringing about this acceptance? Peace

Peace, peace and peace. It prevails all over. Within and without. Serene and quite, the mind is like a still lake. A few thoughts ripple out now and then, like how a gentle breeze makes the water move beautifully and silently. With this quietude, it is very easy to see the completeness in oneself. The utter sense of fulfilment and perfection. The clarity that nothing is needed, nothing is to be accomplished, nothing to  possess, nothing to prove, nothing to achieve and nothing at all to be done is suddenly so obvious. As the body stills, the breath calms down. With the breath in peace, the thought flow reduces to a trickle. As the thought flow reduces to a trickle, the mind -which is nothing but a bundle of thoughts -almost ceases to exist. Manah Sodhanam -Verse 15

Past two days have been hectic. 14 hour work day left me with no time for anything else but to come home, eat, sleep, get up and go to work. In fact, I didn't expect to come home any sooner than 9 pm today also. So am doubly happy to sit and write this post today. Verse 15 little intense for me. It talks about perceptions and realities and truth. Faith Checklist

I rarely engage in social media. My feed is mostly full of quotes and pictures of the Masters, yoga videos and cat/dog other animal videos. The posts that I put up will either be related to yoga / vedanta / special needs. To preserve my own sanity, I have unfollowed people who post either extreme left or extreme right posts, posts that glorify / demean religion or caste etc.  One cannot deny that social media has tremendous power in shaping people's opinion, give a glimpse of lived experiences of those whom we otherwise may not come across in real life, provide a platform for everyone to voice their side of the story, raise awareness of issues that are not spotlighted by main stream media etc. It is a wonderful tool, a great boon to connect people across the world, it can broaden our horizons...basically it has unlimited power. They are the most gross and inadequate. I wish that I was a painter, who can color her thoughts and paint her feelings. The canvas nothing but an extension of my soul. A mirror that reflects that which is within me, now bright, now dark. Sometimes brilliant, sometimes full of shadows. Vibrant and sedate, pious and petty -an amalgamation of lines, colors and textures that talks directly through the mirror of another pair of eyes and reflects in their own soul.
